Arts & Ecology Incorporated produces arts and educational programming that engages the dynamic relationships between nature and culture. Projects take many forms, including dance, theater, film, installation, residency, immersion, and institution.
Current Projects
The Catskills Creative Residency offers a week-long stay in upstate New York for two playwrights. The residency provides free accommodations, a food and travel stipend, and the opportunity to stage a work-in-progress a director and local actors at the historic Tusten Theater in Narrowsburg, NY.
Mothers and Lovers is a narrative short film about a new mother navigating queerness, family, and fidelity in her straight monogamous marriage.
Past Projects
Eco Practicum is a desk-free school for ecological justice, bridging the gap between learning and doing. Over nine years, Eco Practicum brought hundreds of college students and recent grads from throughout North America for more than 40 immersions in the Catskill Mountains and New York City bioregion.
School of Apocalypse examines the connections between creative practice and notions of survival. In light of growing cultural, ecological and technological phenomena that challenge basic assumptions about human existence, SoA offers courses and programming that seek to develop new modes of inquiry and apply broader levels of experience to intellectual investigation.
The Listening Experiment is a music concert form that immerses audience members and musicians in creative and varied modes of listening. For anyone who struggles to maintain focus when listening to beautiful music, this performance offers an opportunity to leave your seat and experience listening outside the box.
